Painting Spring & Summer Themes ‘26
Wednesdays, April 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20 11:30 am - 2:00 pm $160
Paint with either oils, acrylics or watercolor while working on subjects (provided) reflecting spring and summer…Foliage, deep woods subjects, trees, shrubs, and exotic botanical subjects. We will explore how to simplify what appears to be complex wooded areas. We will start with large shapes and then gradually work into detail to create as realistic, or as loose a representation of the subject as you like.
Work in either acrylic or oil with brush or palette knife, or both. Watercolor is also welcome, but the instructor will be demonstrating using oil or acrylic in this class. This session is open to beginners through advanced students and since the class size is limited, the instructor will demonstrate technique in each class and work with each student on their painting in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
Long Island artist Jim Minet lives and maintains a studio on Long Island in New York. Working in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, Jim has a particular fascination with watercolor for its' "uncontrollable madness" which allows for fresh and spontaneous work. Jim also likes working with the palette knife and oil for the same reason. Jim studied at The Art Students League in Manhattan and taught drawing and painting at 92Y in Manhattan, NY. He frequently demonstrates painting throughout the East Coast, USA for brands such as Sennelier, Daniel Smith, Fabriano, Silver Brush, Masterpiece Canvas, and others. Jim is a Holbein & Legion brand ambassador.
