Summer 2026 Art Classes for Children ages 10 - 14 - teacher Melissa Vultaggio
About our instructor: Melissa Vultaggio currently teaches studio art and Commercial Art at Hempstead Highschool. Having a lifelong passion for art and education she holds both an Associate degree in Fashion Design and is New York State Certified in Visual Arts (K-12). A Massapequa resident, her career has led from designing apparel to teaching visual art and fashion illustration in the classroom setting. In her free time Melissa enjoys discovering new art in contemporary art galleries and painting outdoors with her four children. Melissa’s enthusiasm for art education comes from her belief that children’s creativity is at its peak, when young minds are free to imagine and explore, given the right motivation, artistic mediums and skills to experiment with!
Art Classes require minimum of 4 students to run. If your class does not meet minimum enrollment of 4 students your class payment will be refunded in full.

August week 1 (Aug. 3 - Aug. 5) - Monday- Wednesday 10 am-1 pm $126 Fun in Fashion Illustration: Hollywood Glamour - Ages 10-14 Each day students will learn a new illustration technique to create a one-of-a-kind fashion design illustration geared towards elaborate garments and costume designs. Jam packed full of exercises and actionable steps to create stylized characters with confidence. Learn to convey the weight and texture of fabrics seen at celebrity events and in the movies using watercolor and colored pencil. This class is geared toward students with a love for high fashion red carpet looks and illustration. Let’s have some fun drawing fashion! Instructor: Melissa Vultaggio
August week 2 (Aug. 10 - Aug.12)- Monday-Wednesday 10 am-1pm $126 Fun in Fashion: Gelli Plate Printing - Ages 10-14 Combine Fun in Fashion with the exploration of Gelli Plate Printing! Strong fashion illustration deserves strong visual presentation; students learn the exciting process of printing to combine color and texture using gelli plates and printing rollers to create outstanding presentation board backgrounds to support their fashion illustration croquis designs and take their work to a whole new level!
